Of 420

Learn something new today.
Its called 420. In Toronto on April 20th, thousands and thousands of people would gather at Queen's Park (a park very close to my college) and smoke weed.

Like what the f**k man. I know weed is a very common thing in the western civilization but hey, its not like Toronto is Armsterdam. So it's still illegal to posses weed here, but the authorities just turn a blind eye to it.

So i'm gonna mark my calander on April the 20th and see how it all goes down (:

@Korean Barbeque

I did all the cooking, cause they just ended up burning everything.

The crew.

Till next time.

Of things to remember and investments

  1. When crossing the road in Canada remember to look left first then right (almost got hit today).

  2. Becareful of icy areas while walking (don't want to tumble down like a fool do we?)

  3. When a sign says "Caution: falling ice" remember to take it seriously =_=.

  4. Zara jackets can't do jack shit in winter (really tempted to get an eskimo's jacket).

  5. Pray that it snows everyday during winter (the temperature when it snows is around -10 degrees with wind chill, and if it doesn't snow the temperature is around -23 with wind chill. Something to do with the pressure. Go wiki it).

  6. Halls food make your fart and poop smells funny (might be due to the high consumption of meat maybe?)

  7. Gay cowboys have a short-life span. The joker is dead, 1 for batman 0 for the joker ( I seriously think he was one of the better actors around, we salute you Heath Ledger)

I like my investment professor. I think he is a brillant man, not to mention a funny one too. Did you know that stocks in the long-run has the same risk as Treasury bills (T-bills) and Bonds? When i say in the long-run i mean 15 years+

And that the average return of stocks is 20%, much higher compare to T-bills and bonds. All this is according to Jeremy Siegel, not my professor mind you ( if he did all that research and came out with that he won't be teaching right?)

With that all said, thus my professor is an aggressive investor, 100% stocks. I don't know how he does it but he have balls. He says he practice what he preach.I mean imagine if you have a portfolio worth 500,000. The market drop by 6% that would cause you to lose 30,000. That takes balls.

Now i'm really interested in finance, in one and a half years time i'll graduate and would be earning my own money. I reckon its time to start researching and what-nots (: A friend of mine suggested gambling, ( he is a year older than me and he is already investing) he says that when you invest you have to be prepared to lose money and not let the chicken little inside you take control of you. Btw, he just got an internship with Credit Suisse.

On to something more interesting, I almost freeze to death while visiting some lake i couldn't even remember the name of.

Braves souls who was foolish enough to venture out when the weather was -23 degrees with windchill.

Week 2~

Its -1 degrees today and I'm happy. Hehehe, its one of the warmer days of winter (It usually around -10 deg).

I'm in my 2nd week of class and what do I observed?

University of Toronto (UofT) is HUGE, like 3 times bigger than University of Melbourne. The amount of walking you do could make you a model in days. (Results may vary depending on food intake) =P

I hardly see and drunks around, maybe the weather is too cold, or maybe people here are just nicer or Maybe both.

China people are treated as equals. I mean honestly in Melbourne they get bullied cause they can't speak English. But the locals here actually take the initiative and communicate with them. They try so hard to understand them. And because of that, talking to a 2nd year China student ( i use China not Chinese to aviod confusion) is like talking to probably a China student whom have been staying in Melbourne for 5 years.

Toronto have 3 China towns, 1 Korean town, 1 Indian town, and I Italy town. Talk about diversity. The majority of asian locals here are Korean decent.

Toronto have a community call LGBTQ. I am not joking, it stands for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transexual and Queer community. Thats how tolerant the community is. I entered a church the other day and they provide an evening service just for gay people. Interesting....

Halls has been pretty fun, going out, meeting new people... its definately easier to integrate here. (:

Recession is coming, the Canada stock market dropped again, and so did the Australian stock market. Beginning to have an interest in the business side of the world (usually ignores the business section of all the newspaper i read). But I realize that in a year and a half time, i would graduate. I would be earning my own money. I would be supporting myself. And its a dog eat dog world out there, every corner lurks someone who would ask you to hand over your money for them to invest in ETC ETC. Like Warren buffet say "Rule no.1: Never lose money, rule no.2: Never forget rule no.1"

Roar time for some investment homework!

Toronto, Singapore, Malaysia

Canada or at least Toronto is very tolerant. I find that i integrate better here compare to Melbourne. A friend of mine says that the locals here are more confident thus they approach you and say hello. People here are pretty friendly too, a big "how do you do?", "May i help you?" are pretty common. Not to mention i hardly see an drunkards around, maybe is due to the cold weather?

Halls life have been not too bad, it took me a few days to adjust though. I'm not used to sharing bathrooms and stuff so yeah, took me a few days to adjust. My hall, Burwash Gatehouse is LEGENDARY. It use to be an all male residence but since this Semester, they change it to a co-ed residences. This is due to a number of pranks, one which involved a snow penis and a cooked pig's head.
She says i look ugly >.<

Nuria from Luxembourg, Julia from Spain, Jian from Melbourne?

Everything is going fine, but i miss Serena >.<

Down in Singapore.
